Supporting First Nations Economic Development

We work with Indigenous entrepreneurs and Indigenous governments to support their businesses at varying stages of economic activity, from small business ventures to large, complex commercial transactions.

We pinpoint the unique legal issues that arise at the intersection of Indigenous governments and their businesses. Our long service to Indigenous governments and businesses gives us the experience to facilitate ways of working together effectively and efficiently.

Our work includes:

Creating

Creating appropriate legal structures for commercial ventures. These include companies, not-for-profits, partnerships, trusts, and joint ventures.

Advising

Advising on all day-to-day commercial transactions facing Indigenous governments, such as asset purchases, share purchases, revenue sharing agreements with private businesses and the Crown, financing, directors/officers liability, and trust and fiduciary obligations.

Developing

Developing business agreements for commercial endeavors that foster sustainable economic growth.

Negotiating and Drafting

Negotiating and drafting documents for all aspects of commercial transactions, including business acquisitions, partnerships, shareholder agreements, trust agreements, revenue sharing agreements, and service and supply agreements.
