Established under section 96 of the Constitution Act, 1867, the Supreme Court of British Columbia is the superior court of the province. Appointments to the Supreme Court of British Columbia are made by the Governor General, acting on the advice of the federal Cabinet and recommendations from the Minister of Justice. Each province and territory has a judicial advisory committee that evaluates judicial applications and makes recommendations to the Minister of Justice.
We look forward to seeing all the great work Justice Sigurdson will do serving on the Supreme Court of British Columbia and wish her the best in the next phase of her career.
