Rosanne Kyle and Virginia Mathers to speak at CLEBC’s Indigenous Governance & Economic Development 2023

On April 26, 2023, Mandell Pinder lawyers Rosanne Kyle and Virginia Mathers will speak at the Continuing Legal Education Society of British Columbia’s webinar on Indigenous Governance & Economic Development. Rosanne and Virginia will present on section 7 of the BC Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (DRIPA) which has created space for the Province and Indigenous governing bodies to enter into agreements that recognize Indigenous decision-making. They will discuss the role of industry in consent-based decision-making processes; issues of procedural fairness and transparency in relation to proponents; the use and protection of confidential Indigenous knowledge; and enforcement mechanisms.
