Specific Claims
Specific claims are historical grievances against the federal government made under Canada’s Specific Claims Policy. Under the new legislation, specific claims will also be pursued before the Specific Claims Tribunal. Our work includes:
- reviewing, assembling and assessment of claims
- development and presentation of strategies
- document research, analysis and development
- drafting and completing claims for submission to the Minister
- presentation of the claim to the community
- assisting in the negotiations of settlements that are fair and just
- implementation of trust structures for settlements
- representing First Nations before the Specific Claims Tribunal
