It has been 10 years since the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada (TRC) released its Final Report and 94 Calls to Action to redress the legacy of residential schools and advance the process of reconciliation. The National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation (NCTR) opened in 2015 as a permanent organization to continue the work of the TRC, and we celebrate the good work and advocacy the NCTR has championed over the last decade
Mandell Pinder unequivocally stands with all Survivors. Today, and every day we must never forget the painful legacy of residential schools, the effects of which Survivors, their families, and communities continue to experience.
We are also reminded of the long road ahead towards reconciliation. The Calls to Action remain largely unfulfilled, and disinformation and denialism weigh heavy in public discourses. Reconciliation is not a moment in time but requires continuous work on all of our parts. Start a conversation, read the reports, and amplify Indigenous voices. Thank you to all who remain unwaveringly committed to truth-telling.
